“Finding our Mob”

The Wemba Wamba Kelly Gang”

Finding Our Mob aimed to identify and engage all descendants of Alf and Alice Kelly and their 11 children. The Finding Our Mob Project aimed to allow family members the opportunity to know their Country and honor their Culture and heritage, including the rights and responsibilities that flow from being recognised as proud descendants of Alf and Alice Kelly's family - the Wemba Wamba people.

Finding Our Mob continued the work started by Alice (born 26th June 1919, died 30th June 2003 aged 84) and Alf (born 27th March 1912, died 22nd December 1983 aged 71).

Due to COVID-19 restrictions being in place during the project period, the majority of the research phase of this project was undertaken online via video/phone.

However due to the easing of restrictions, the launch of the project outcomes was able to be held on shared Mutthi Mutthi and Wemba Wamba Country at the Balranald Aboriginal Cemetery Garden.
